Some football stories don’t end with the final siren. Our next honour roll recipient is Clinton Rudd — the 2004 Mitchell Medal winner and the player judged the Goldfields Football League’s Fairest and Best.

A dynamic midfielder and utility, Clinton arrived at Boulder during one of the club’s strong modern eras and produced a season that placed him at the very top of Goldfields football. His Mitchell Medal victory sits in an impressive sequence for the Tigers — following Rob Hillier’s success in 2003 and reinforcing Boulder’s standing as a dominant force of the era. But football was only one chapter. Alongside his success in the Goldfields, Clinton built a respected WAFL playing career before transitioning into leadership away from the field.

Today, he remains deeply involved in the game — now helping shape the next generation through senior football administration and development in Western Australian football. Looking back, there’s something fitting about that.

The player recognised as the competition’s best in 2004 now spends his time helping develop those chasing the same dream. For one outstanding season…Clinton Rudd stood above the competition.
