Long before the Fletcher, Dillon and Mitchell Medals... There was Alec Robinson. One of the first superstars of the Boulder City Football Club, Robinson was recognised as the Goldfields Football League's Best and Fairest in 1907, a time before the league's highest individual honour carried an official medal. Already a VFL footballer with Essendon, Alec brought his remarkable talent to the Goldfields and quickly established himself among the finest footballers in Western Australia.

A brilliant follower blessed with athleticism, courage and exceptional football ability, Robinson became one of the pioneers who built Boulder City into a powerhouse of Goldfields football. His football career stretched well beyond the Goldfields. After beginning in the Victorian Football League with Essendon, he proudly represented Western Australia on the national stage and also earned selection in the State's first-class cricket team—a rare achievement that highlights his remarkable sporting ability. More than a century later, Alec Robinson remains one of the greatest all-round athletes ever to wear the Black and Gold.
