REGINALD “BONNER” HEBBARD

Some football stories deserve to be remembered. Before WAFL records and modern pathways, a Tiger from Boulder earned the ultimate honour — representing Western Australia while never playing a WAFL game.

Reginald “Bonner” Hebbard was selected directly from the Boulder City Football Club to wear the Black Swan and represent his state in 1911. Bonner played 5 State matches for Western Australia — a remarkable achievement in an era when Goldfields football stood shoulder to shoulder with the best in the country. No headlines. No spotlight. Just performance.

His selection is another reminder that the Boulder Tigers were producing elite footballers more than a century ago — players good enough to leave the dust of the Goldfields and compete on the biggest stage available.
