The first player featured in our Fletcher Medal series is one of the toughest and most respected footballers to wear the black and gold. Don Rintoul claimed the 1968 Fletcher Medal as the Goldfields Football League's Best and Fairest while representing the Boulder City Football Club. A fearless ruck-rover and defender, Don earned a reputation for his uncompromising style of play and relentless commitment to the contest.

Although Boulder fell just short in the 1968 and 1969 premierships, Don was among the Tigers' standout performers throughout that era. His impact was later recognised with selection on the Half Back Flank in the Boulder City Football Club All Stars Team—a fitting tribute to one of the club's finest footballers. His performances in the Goldfields attracted the attention of East Perth, where he continued his football career in the WAFL.

The Rintoul name has become woven into Boulder history. Brother Peter Rintoul was a respected Life Member and long-serving club administrator, while nephew Chad Rintoul went on to play 76 AFL games with Adelaide, West Coast and Collingwood. A champion footballer, a respected Tiger, and a worthy player to open our celebration of Boulder Fletcher Medallists.
