Some seasons become part of club folklore. For Phil Guy, 1959 was one of them. The inspirational Boulder captain-coach produced one of the finest individual seasons in Tiger history, claiming the 1959 Fletcher Medal as the Goldfields Football League's Best and Fairest while leading the Tigers to premiership glory.

It was a remarkable double.

1959 Premiership Captain-Coach – guiding Boulder to a commanding 14.18 (102) to 7.14 (56) Grand Final victory over Kalgoorlie City.

Phil Guy wasn't simply the league's outstanding player—he was the leader who inspired his teammates when it mattered most. His ability to combine elite individual football with outstanding leadership made 1959 one of the most memorable seasons in the club's proud history.

Following that premiership triumph, Guy continued as Boulder City's senior coach through the 1960 season, further strengthening his legacy at the club. More than six decades later, the achievements of Phil Guy remain a benchmark for every Tiger who has worn the Black and Gold.
