Brief History

The Boulder City Football Club - the oldest country club in Western Australia - was inaugurated in 1896 and won three premierships in its first four years (1896, 1898, 1899). The club provided numerous Association players in its first ten years and capped this off by winning further premierships in 1907, 1908, 1909, 1910 and 1913.
The First World War led to the disbanding of the competition before a combined team reformed as Boulder B Grade in 1924. The period between both World Wars proved very successful for the club with premierships in 1924, 1925, 1928, 1932, 1933 and 1935. This period also proved fruitful on the interstate scene with various wins over Victorian and South Australian teams.
The Second World War in 1939 led to the competition being revamped and, ultimately, suspended. As a result, the club and its supporters were paramount in the formation of an Under-18's competition which was played until the completion of the war.
The 40's and 50's were stabilising years for the club with premierships being won in 1948, 1950 and 1959. Included in this period was a tour to South Australia in 1947.
On the league premiership front, the club suffered its leanest period from 1960 with no Grand Final wins occurring until 1977 - a period of 18 years. With the admission of a team from Kambalda into the competition in 1969, the club lost valuable players and supporters and the committee had to work hard to mould a team of young players into a fine side.
The club finally won a long-awaited premiership in 1977 under the courageous leadership of player-coach Henry Veletta. He was well backed up by Steve Mahony who kicked seven goals in the Grand Final.
1981 saw the first stage of a new clubroom facility completed under the professional supervision of Ian Holman and financial support from various club stalwarts. The clubrooms were completed in 1986 with the help of volunteer labour and sponsors.
On the field, the club had a mixed 1980's with a premiership in 1982 followed by a disasterous 1984 and 1985 where they went through a 24-game losing streak.
The club bounced back though to win Grand Finals in 1986, 1989, 1990 and 1994 and then celebrated its 100th Anniversary in 1996. The club completed the millenium with premierships in 1997 and 1998.
