2nd semi-final results
- The Colts were beaten by 22 points after Kalgoorlie piled on 3.5 to our 0.1 in the last quarter following the score being level at three quarter time. The Colts will play Mines in the Preliminary final on Sunday with an opportunity to atone for their dismal last quarter and get another chance to play Kalgoorlie in the Grand Final.
- The Reserves soundly beat Mines by 35 points and have booked their place in the grand final on the 11th September. Mines will play Railways in the Prelim on 5th September to work out who our opposition is.

Bradders reaches his ton
Full forward Darren Bradshaw will go down in the GFL record books as only the 4th player in GFL history to kick 100+ games in a season reaching the magic number in the final qualifying game of the season against Railways. Bradders will join Dick Robinson (Railways) who holds the record of 139 goals in a season, Mick Garbin (Mines) and John Kimberley (Boulder) in this very elite group. Congratulations Bradders an a terrific effort.

Landmark
Congratulations to Julian Jacobs and Clinton Rudd who were named in the Allstars team at the Landmark Country Championships on the weekend. Darren Bradshaw had his kicking boots on kicking seven of the team's 10 goals in the second game on Friday. Unfortunately the Goldfields played off for 5th position and as a result of their win, we were saved from relegation to B Grade.

Annual Breast Cancer luncheon
It's that time again when we host the annual breast cancer luncheon on Sunday 4th July with the ladies from the Kambalda FC our guests again. The cost is $10 for lunch inclusive of a bottle of champagne with all funds raised going to the Breast Cancer Foundation of WA.
The league team have permission to wear purple footy socks to raise awareness of this fantastic cause. There will be collection tins and raffles on the day. In previous years we have raised in excess of $1,500 for breast cancer research and hopefully 2010 is better.
Ladies, please wear something purple. For more information please contact either Donna Coughlan or Bec Hooks.

League Coach's wrap up - Round 8 - Boulder vs Kalgoorlie
It was a comprehensive 68 point victory in round 8 over Kangas as Digger Daws Oval, with the most pleasing aspect the good start we got off to. The players applied early pressure and were able to sustain it for most of the four quarters. Intensity around the contest and our willingness to run hard had us five goals to the good at quarter time and from early in the contest I think we had asserted control.
Our back six have been consistent all year and Clinton Rudd was the early lynch pin, receiving the ball and then using to advantage most times. Jason Rowe won his battle at CHB and Vic Smith again gave great run and carry from deep in our defence. Ryan McNally was hard running and not only shutdown his opponent, but also turned defence into attack on many occasions. Julian Jacobs was influential after half time on a back flank and Mick Alexander continues to do a job each week at fullback.
Captain, Daniel Coughlan led from the front and his work ethic was matched by Ben Andrews and Clark Maul and it was their dominance that had Kalgoorlie under early pressure. Full Forward Darren Bradshaw again was the most influential forward on the ground and bagged another six goals to now lead the GFL goal kicking list.
Blustery conditions made skill execution difficult and the only blip was when we lost our forward structure during the 3rd term. With so many Kalgoorlie players behind the ball our 50m area was severely crammed and we didn’t really work the spaces as well as we’d like.
This week we’re off to Kambalda on Sunday. I have great respect for them this year, as they work hard for each other and think their first win is not far away. We will be working hard on the track this week to make sure we’re not their first scalp for 2010, and I’d encourage as many of the Boulder faithful to make the trip out to support your team.

League Coach's wrap up - Round 6 - Mines vs Boulder
A win over traditional rivals Mines, was built on character and hard work after being four goals down at three quarter time. We relaxed our pressure in the third quarter to let Mines back into the game, though to the players' credit they responded after the break to kick six goals and record a terrific victory. It’s been a long time since a Boulder side has produced the quality and intensity that we did in the last quarter and the player group should be proud of their effort, as too should our supporters.
Ben Andrews produced his best game for 2010, with hard running and superb use of the ball, as did Justin Langridge whose three goal last term was instrumental in the result going our way. Darren Bradshaw made the most of his opportunities to bag six goals for the night.
Our backline continues to be our most consistent line and although early in the game they made some skill errors, as the game wore on they settled down and not only defended, but gave us drive forward to create opportunities further up the ground. Small forwards Cruden Munroe and Steve Waddington are adapting to our game plan each week and Luke Williams had his best game in the seniors.
Although I’m pleased with our unbeaten start to the season, it’s clear that the competition this year will be a tight affair, so the players cannot afford to relax or lose focus on the long haul of 2010. The other clubs are snapping at our heels, so we need to be at our best each week to continue to have positive results. We have a bye this week, but it will be a solid week on the training track before turning our attention to Kangas the following week.

League Coach's wrap up - End of Round 5
With an unbeaten record for the 1st round, it has been an excellent start to the season. A solid pre-season has held the League squad in good stead so far and, although playing well, I’m excited at the prospect of the team improving further. We have a good blend of player type and have managed to add depth to the group from the 2009 campaign.
Younger players such as Luke Williams and Kynan Bevan have made their debuts, while others such as Ethan Day and Cruden Munroe have continued their development with games this year. Welcoming players of the ilk of Julian Jacobs, Cam Keevers, Tyson Rudd, Ryan McNally, Darren Bradshaw, Ben Andrews and Clark Maul to the Club, now gives us more stability and polish. Clinton Rudd, Mathew Wellstead, Jason Rowe and Vic Smith rejoin the Club after stints elsewhere and their ability and experience have been notable in games thus far. Established players such as Captain Daniel Coughlan, Chris Bowie, Justin Langridge, Steve Waddington and Henry Papertalk continue their good work from last season in the black & gold.
Although we’ve managed to get away to a great start in 2010, the players and coaches will continue to work hard to gain the results we strive for each weekend. I encourage all supporters and sponsors to come along and support all grades throughout the year, and with your help we can all make this season a successful one.

Life membership
It was a delight last night to be present when Captain Daniel (Stanley) Coughlan was awarded life membership when he played his 150th league game in what turned out to be a win, albeit that we only scraped over the line by four points against a very determined Kambalda team.
Congratulations Stanley, you are very deserving of this award.

Round 3 vs Kalgoorlie
It was a good day out for the Tigers at SRMO yesterday when we recorded three wins over Kalgoorlie. Unfortunately we played an unregistered player in the Reserves and have given the four points to Kalgoorlie for that game. Click here for yesterday's results.

Derby
Although there have been a couple of close results in the Boulder derbies in the past few years, Boulder haven't beaten Mines since the 6th August 2006 so it was a fantastic result last night to finally beat our co-tenants by 34 points in the first derby of 2010.

Away guernsey
The Committee are toying with the idea of introducing an away guernsey but want to canvas the opinion of our members, sponsors, supporters and players before proceeding.
One idea is to have a yellow guernsey with a black sash and black number on the back, completely the opposite to the current guernsey. As this would be the away guernsey the players would also wear white shorts with primarily yellow guernseys.
Another alternative would be a completely re-vamped and modernised design (there is nothing to show you at the moment as we want to seek feedback before going ahead with a design).
Please go to http://www.sportingpulse.com/club_info.cgi?c=1-3294-41928-0-0 to register your vote. You won't be able to add specific feedback to the poll, however you can email your comments directly to Danny Hayes at d.hayes@theriggingshed.com.au.

Return to training for Aaron Taylor
You will recall that Aaron Taylor underwent an horrific moped accident last year which was an extremely stressful time for Aaron and his doting family wondering initially whether he would survive and then how his life would change as he was rehabilitated.
It's been absolutely inspiring to go to pre-season training and watch Aaron push himself to do the full session three times a week. Aaron still struggles with many things and will for a long time yet, but his endeavour at training is absolutely inspiring to watch.
